A survey has been launched to define the housing needs of low-income families from Targovishte Municipality
News
Targovishte Municipality is one of the two locations where Habitat Bulgaria will conduct a representative sociological survey to define the housing conditions and needs in Targovishte region, Bulgaria. Based on that research Habitat Bulgaria will prepare a report with recommendations for improvement of local practices and policies related to the living conditions in general and in particular – in the underprivileged communities.
A training for the local interviewers was held in Targovishte on July 18, 2020. They will work in the Roma district “Malcho Malchev” and in the village of Golyamo Novo. Immediately after the training the field work began. The interviewers will be visiting addresses following a certain sociological model.
Data will be collected from more than 350 households from the Targovishte region.
The project “Research Based Arguments for New Housing Policies in Favour of All” is implemented with a financial support of 93,000 Euro, secured by Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway within the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area. The main goal of the project is to contribute to the development of long-term, needs-driven municipal and national housing policies, which will secure safe and adequate housing for Roma. The duration of the project is 24 months (until September 2021) and is implemented in cooperation with the Club of NGOs – Targovishte and with the active assistance of the local municipal administration.
